Rainbodhi SG presents How to Grow Old with the Buddha?

Discover how embracing Buddhist teachings from your 20s onward can profoundly transform your mindset and physical well-being as we navigate the realities of aging. Join us for an enlightening conference where three inspiring Queer Buddhists share their research and personal stories on the journey of growing older!

Facilitator Biography

Meet Kyle Neo, a queer Buddhist and thoughtful observer of life who has navigated the journey from a pre-internet world to the frenetic pace of modern technology. In his mid-40s, Kyle embraces the aging process with grace, using his experiences to enrich his writing and design work. As a passionate advocate for social issues viewed through a Buddhist lens, he strives to spark meaningful conversations around identity, spirituality, and community dynamics.

As the founder of Rainbodhi Singapore, Kyle creates inclusive spaces where diverse voices can flourish and connect. Through his creativity and insights, he invites others to explore the intersection of culture, faith, and personal truth, encouraging growth and understanding in an ever-evolving world.

Meet Sofia, an aspiring queer gerontology practitioner in the aging community in Singapore with deep passion in enhancing quality of life for the older adults. As a member of the queer community, she is committed to advocating for inclusive and supportive care that recognizes and respects the diverse identities and experiences of our elderly population.

Her journey in gerontology is driven by a desire to bridge gaps in care and ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, can enjoy their later years with dignity and joy in their own homes.

Meet Nigel, new to eldercare but deeply interested in the queer experience related to aging. He reflects on queer aging and its connection to Buddhist practice through the lenses of literature and dharma.

To better grasp the experiences of young seniors and the elderly in Singapore, Nigel actively volunteers in life transition workshops and community initiatives, as well as guided autobiographical writing exercises and charity assessments.

Midweek Mindfulness @ Proud Spaces

It’s only halfway through the week and already feeling drained by work or life in general? Join us at Proud Spaces for a midweek boost and catch a little breather.

Proud Spaces is thrilled to be partnering with The Pilates MVMT, an LGBT-owned boutique fitness studio in Singapore, to launch Midweek Mindfulness – a series of yoga and pilates classes held on Wednesdays at Proud Spaces.

Class Fee: $15 per pax per class

Please bring your own mat, towel and water bottle.

Do note that a minimum of 10 participants is required for the class to commence. Payment will only be collected after the class has been confirmed.

About the Instructor

Nicole has been passionate about movement since she was young, starting out as a dancer and naturally transitioning into Yoga and Pilates. As a teacher, she is dedicated to creating a welcoming and empowering environment for her students. She understands that time on the mat is sacred, as it’s her only moment of calm amidst her busy life.

Outside of teaching, she juggles being a mum to two rambunctious boys, managing partnerships and operations at a maternity wear brand, and occasionally working as a university admissions consultant. It’s a busy life, but she loves every moment of it!

  • Certified Yoga Teacher (200hr YTT from Yoga Mandala SG)
  • Certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher (100hr YTT from Live Yoga Flow)

About The Pilates MVMT

In a society where fitness is largely commercialised, The Pilates MVMT aims to spread the importance of mindful movement through personalised attention in small group classes. Each exercise is thoughtfully curated by their experienced instructors with increased or decreased difficulty depending on your abilities and needs.

They provide a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space for everyone to work out in. Check out their website for more information on classes and instructors.
