UltraSound presents: Sacred Ecstatic Circle
UltraSound 3? Already?! 🌟 This time, we’re swapping strobe lights for something more soulful. Enter The Sacred Ecstatic Circle, a dynamic collective of Singapore-based multi-hyphenate artists and spiritual seekers who come together to create and perform in an eclectic fusion of contemporary and traditional art forms. Expect elements of esoterica, ritual practice, and religious art from around the globe. Unlike the wild energy of the last UltraSound, this one promises a more introspective, mellow vibe—though the free flow of Heineken Silver 🍻 might keep things a little playful.
First Act: 🌿 A serene sound bath and guided meditation by the multi-talented Arunditha Emmanuel, a poet, musician, and performance artist.
Second Act: 🍷A site-specific alchemic performance of ‘Rubedo: Journey of the Red Man’ by Jireh Koh featuring live vocals and body art by Koh (his range goes from opera to throat-singing) accompanied by live ‘percussion painting’ or ‘playnting’ (you’ll see) by Khaitama D. Sun.
Third Act: 🎶 An improvised blend of music and movement featuring movement and theatre artist Sanat Mehta, actor and performance maker Tysha Khan, vocalist Joy Koh (channeling tribal sounds ), and musicians Ben K (didgeridoo 🎵), Kanesh Subramaniam and Mahesh Iyer (percussion).
Closing Act: 🎧 A DJ set by the ‘conscious DJ’ Dr Foo, who will take us on a journey through downtempo and world ethnic sounds coupled with the soothing vibrations of sound healing instruments.
