The world’s music culture is facing the biggest challenge in its history. Since March, Asia’s nightlife was officially shut down to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This meant that millions of employees and hundreds of thousands of artists are now suddenly without employment and the many venues, clubs, festivals, club nights and parties that are part of the Asian cities identity are on the brink of ruin. Most of them getting no support from their governments.
United We Stream Asia will be started in 3 days from May 29-31 in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. United We Stream is a not-for-profit streaming idea started by Berlin clubs with the goal of raising charities and supporting music and personal venues affected by the closure related to Covid-19. Since United We Stream Berlin launched on March 19 this year, in the first 2 weeks, they have raised more than € 500,000 and had 1 million hits in less than 24 hours. The event was quickly successful and expanded to the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Georgia and more, with 43 cities, 416 artists, 111 locations and still being keep rising. With United We Stream Asia, this will be the first time the movement goes beyond Europe and can be combined with many countries and cities across the Asian continent.
