RITUAL 025: Gerd Janson (Running Back / DE)
We know we said Ritual 024 was gonna be the last party of the year… but we simply just couldn’t pass up on this offer to add “Mr. Nice Guy” to our already outstanding list of artists for the year and closing off 2022 PROPER. We’re throwing down the last party on the last Thurs of the year, just before the whole NYE madness kicks in. Let’s be honest, everyone is going to be in a “zero f**ks given” mood anyway, so we figured “Why not!”. If you’re around this year’s end and not traveling, this is where it’s at. 😉 RITUAL 025: Gerd Janson (Running Back / DE) and joining him will be the uber-talented and ever reliable, our island’s very own “Mr.Nice Guy”, local hero Sivanesh (Sivilian Affairs / SG)

Gerd Janson is one of the most highly respected DJs in the world of house and techno. Quite often, “highly respected” goes hand-in-hand with “underrated” but over the past few years, audiences around the world have also found out what insider types already knew: Janson is a DJ that reconfigures the classics you already knew in an unexpected way – and introduce you to new classics, a few months (or years) before you’ll hear them played everywhere else.
This genre-free philosophy has been a theme throughout Janson’s career. House and techno have been an underlying theme, but listening to his DJ sets, you’ll often hear different types of things filtering through: UK funky, synth pop, industrial. It’s a cliché, to be sure, but he’s the type of DJ that digs so that you don’t have to.
In short, Gerd Janson is one of the increasingly worst kept secrets in the world of dance music. A DJ versatile enough to rock just about any dance floor. A DJ who cares about the profession of a DJ. A DJ worth hearing.

A regular fixture at some of Asia’s hippest spots, Sivanesh’s sound goes beyond current trends in genres and is held together by equal amounts of rhythm & groove.
Regional attention started coming through after a well-received opening set for The Martinez Brothers in November 2019 during Cercle’s debut show in Asia at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, leading to DJ bookings around South-East Asia and commissions to curate playlists for publications and record labels such as Mixmag Asia and SaturdaySelects.
Together with partner Lilian Hautemulle, he cofounded Sivilian Affairs in 2019, a project that’s focused on intimate parties with an emphasis on collaboration, inclusivity, and having fun.
Currently, the music director for Potato Head and Kilo in Singapore, Sivanesh also holds a monthly radio residency on AAJA Music in London every third Monday of the month.
