ASEAN SOGIE Caucus Talk on IDAHOBIT 2020
Amid covid-19 pandemic the act of hatred toward persons of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people is increased both in offline such as domestic place and online spaces. In March, one of the transwomen in Jakarta, Indonesia was burned to death by a number of gang members. Not long after that, in Philipine, Baranggay Captain make queer people who violate curfew do lewd acts as punishment. In Malaysia the number of domestic violence faced by our youth queerblings who live with their parents or family members are also increased.
How has the pandemic affected our queerblings life in Southeast Asia? What support has been made by our own community to have each other back? We shall survive this pandemic, but how?
Those questions will be discussed during ASEAN SOGIE Caucus Online Talk to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia 2020 that fall in the time of the corona pandemic.
